EP7346 Aluminum-filled Epoxy

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: EP7346 is an aluminum filled casting epoxy for thin sections. It has low viscosity for easy pouring. Special additives provide excellent bubble release while pouring. Can be cast up to ¾" thick at a time and recast in additional ¾" layers as required. Similar to EP7349 which is castable to 3" thick, and EP7347 good to 6" pours.

APPLICATIONS: The cured EP7346 has many of the characteristics of aluminum, namely: good machinability, dimensional stability, and appearance. Major uses include patterns, molds, duplicate masters, nests and fixtures.

Recommended mix ratio is 11 parts of A with 1 parts of B, by weight. This provides a 20 minute pot life, and a 24 hour cure time at room temperature. Pot life and cure time will vary depending on temperature and thickness. The resultant unreinforced epoxy has these properties:

Mix Ratio, by weight: 11A : 1B
Viscosity: 5,000 cps
Specific Gravity: 2.05
Hardness (durometer): 90 D
Shrinkage: 0.08%
Maximum Use Temperature: 180°F (230°F at the surface)
Tensile Strength: 4,600 psi
Compressive Strength: 13,500 psi
Flexural Strength: 15,000 psi
Cured Color: gray (other colors are available)

EP7346 is very adhesive. It will tend to bond to surfaces that it is in contact with while curing. If this is undesirable, release agents must be properly applied to all surfaces. EP7346 is available in the following sizes:

Quart Kit (3 lb 7 oz) Gallon Kit (13 lb 12 oz) 5 Gallon Kit (68 lb) 55 Gallon Drum Kit
