EP7349 Aluminum-filled Casting Epoxy For Medium-Thickness Sections

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: EP7349 is an aluminum filled casting epoxy for moderate thickness castings. It has low viscosity for easy pouring. Special additives provide excellent bubble release while pouring. Can be cast up to 3" thick at a time and recast in 3" layers as required. Similar to EP7346 which is castable to ¾" thick, and EP7347 good to 6" castings. The cured EP7349 has many of the characteristics of aluminum, namely: good machinability, dimensional stability, and appearance. Major uses include patterns, molds, duplicate masters, nests and fixtures.

APPLICATIONS:

Recommended mix ratio is 9 parts of A with 1 parts of B, by weight. This provides a 30 minute pot life, and a 24 hour cure time at room temperature. Pot life and cure time will vary depending on temperature and thickness. The resultant unreinforced epoxy has these properties:

Specific Gravity: 1.90
Hardness (durometer): 87 D
Shrinkage: 0.04%
Max Use Temperature: 160°F (210°F at the surface)
Tensile Strength: 4,500 psi
Compressive Strength: 13,000 psi
Flexural Strength: 15,000 psi
Color: gray (others available upon request)

EP7349 is very adhesive. It will tend to bond to surfaces that it is in contact with while curing. If this is undesirable, release agents must be properly applied to all surfaces.
